Hot VWs featured BNNTA 2006!  The publisher and my boss (Bruce Simurda) told me that the coverage of the BNNTA event should be in the next issue.  I'm dying with anticipation!  Tom Janisewski wrote a great coverage article and I sent in a bunch of photos, Tom may have also. So now Tom J. has written for Hot VWs too!

Hey all,
I just heard from ABC7 Chicago. They are going to feature my Thing (VW that is..) on the "Love My Car" segment on the ABC7 Morning news either Monday, March 12 or Tuesday, March 13 at 6:10am. I'll record the segment and try to get it on you-tube somehow. Just a bit of blatant self-promotion..

Just another few pages to add to our illustrious past...  A photo and write-up from our wedding has been published in a huge 2-page spread titled "Love Affair American Style" in the new book "Campervan Crazy - Travels with my Bus: A tribute to the VW camper and the people who drive them"  by David and Cee Eccles. The book is only available in the UK right now, but I ordered mine from Amazon in the UK.
Josh & Beth's, Andy's, Billy & Julia's, Jack's, Brian and Dawn's, and Augie's buses are all in the picture, as is our 57 beetle.  I'm surprised he didn't put the picture of the bus in, as that was one of the best ones I sent him.  Oh well... enjoy!  Isaiah

September, 2005 Gary White's bus has been immortalized in a new book about Packer  fans. The book is called "Green, Gold, and Proud", and is published internationally by Triumph Books. The book is available at Barnes and Noble and the Packer Pro Shop. The full page photo of the bus at last years Jaguars game is on page 51.  I am the one in the vintage buffalo plaid, wool hunting suit. The other guy in the photo is a band mate Jason Berken, who owns a nice '70 transporter. My bus can also be seen in this Journal-Sentinel video about tailgating:

Photo mural in the Atrium at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI

My wife has informed me that our '71 Westy is in a photo mural in the Atrium
at Lambeau Field.  I haven't seen it myself but I guess it's from a late season game aerial view.  I go to all the Green Bay tkt games and always get lots of attention from other tailgaters. Our bus is Emerald Green (Thanks Brian for that info) which is perfect for a Packer bus. Lot's of great stories from the parking lot so far, like when someone stole my vintage Pabst sign off the pop-up during the game. I think it was one of Kid Rock's posse as he was at that game. If anyone's ever at the game look for our bus near the Oneida Nation gate, I put an old helmet on top of the pop-up. I am working on getting Jackie some photos for the DBG site.

August 5th issue of Old Cars Weekly See the article on page 12 featuring a beautiful photo of a split window bus with sub hatch, rear roofrack and safari windows.  The article is about the Elkhart Lake vintage races.  The caption under the photo reads "A row of Volkswagens and Volkswagen buses added to the downtown fun during the vintage race weekend at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin."  There is no doubt the reference is to the DBG, and the featured bus is Isaiah and his 1961 flipseat westy!

VW Trends, Feb. 2002 Joe Mond is on the cover, and page 48 has an article on his fire truck
Then on the next page is Chris Walsh, (AKA "The Reverend")  winning yet another trophy from MoFoCo

The DBG's roving ambassador Bill Bowman, was a recipient of Common Gear's highly acclimated "Heroes of Antique Volkswagening" award.   This award program was started by Steve Mierz (Common Gear Discussion Group moderator and webmaster) in 1999 to help recognize those people within the antique Volkswagen hobby world who have especially given of themselves to help other hobbyists, often with little to no personal gain or attention.

The 2001 "Historical Classics" VW Calendar is sponsored by the Chicago Parts Depot, and is  distributed by VW dealers.  The month of August features Crusty's Single Cab.
The photo is taken in front of the barn and silo on Crusty's "Barn O' Treasures" farm.
No doubt that it's Crusty's '60 single (WIS 10811 D Antique License).
Robert Halstrom is the VW Trends photographer who submitted photos for the calendar.

Yes, there was a rare VW article in The Appleton Post Crescent Newspaper from the First Annual Fox Valley VW Show.   Our own Maturity Commissioner was quoted in the article.  John Lago was also quoted in the article.
It was kind of ironic that the article appeared in the "Wisdom" section.   This is The Post Crescent's monthly magazine dedicated to life's second half!
