How to fix your calipers

Instead of replacing them, you can get them rebuilt. I had Brake & Clutch Exchange, Inc. of Springfield do mine.  I don't remember the exact amount, but I think it was a total of less than a hundred and got new pads to boot.

Here's the kicker, I called them on a Saturday morning and the had them done by noon that same day.  They looked brand new when I picked them up. I don't know of any places up by you in particular, but if you want they're number it's (217)-525-1990.  They sell new hardware, turn rotors, and just about anything dealing with brakes and clutches.

However:

If the internal metal is un-pitted because there was never any really old brake fluid in the system (we all know that brake fluid absorbs 4% water per year in the midwest) then a rebuild is a great solution.  However if there is any metal pitting in the inside of the bore then it's time to scrap the whole shebang and start with new parts.

Your brakes are your most important safety equipment.
