Safety Tips courtesy of Jeff Woodall

Since I had the motor out, I decided to check out my fuel lines.
I had replaced them 3 years ago with braided German lines. When I inspected the lines the inner rubber was cracking
severely, so of course I changed all fuel lines. Whenever you take your motor out always inspect your fuel lines.  Remember the #1 cause of engine fires in air cooled VWs are cracked fuel lines!!  We don't want to lose any buses or DBGer's for that matter, so every 2 to 3 years change your fuel lines ! ! !
Also, when working under your rusty buses always use safety glasses when pounding or chiseling.
Always make sure your buses are safely on jack stands!!!
Always carry a fire
extinguisher!  And keep it in a easy to access place and in the same place always. ( I keep mine right behind drivers seat !)
Carry road flares or safety reflectors.
