Shuffle Pins

I was reading an ad in Hot VWs today for a motor. It listed all the stuff it had like C/W crank, 8 dowel flywheel, full flow case, and shuffle pins.  Anybody know what these are and where they go?

What's the benefit to having them?

Think I'll go out to the garage and shuffle some pins for a while.
Should do me some good.

Maybe it's the piston pin retaining clip?

Whoops! You can tell I haven't been out in the garage for a while.  I believe shuffle pins are the little stubby round pins that keep your main bearings from spinning.  I think I'm going to go and work in the garage all day today, because I need it.

Shuffle pins were installed in the case halves to prevent movement of so some thought.  Gene never used them and believed that the standard stud and nut fixturing of the case halves was sufficient.
