Sun Visor Information

Want to know when VW changed from hard board sun visors to those white padded ones in buses?

According to Laurence Meredith in the "Original VW Bus" page 45 -
"A sun visor, initially made of grey fibreboard, was fitted to the driver's side as standard on all models.
From july 1958 Microbuses were fitted with a padded, vinyl-covered visor in the interest of safety,
and from August 1961 all models received two of them."
It sounds as if the fibreboard variety continued on standard and commercial vehicles well into the 60's.

In addition, according to our Crusty Holcomb, soft visors were first introduced in the deluxe category.
Hard visors were used well into the '60's on the standard and commercial vehicles.
