Hi Lee, Great site,I've been a Ufo fan since '77,on hearing Lights Out I became a convert and have been ever since . My Top 5 Albums are: 1. Obsession 2 . Misdemeanour 3 . Walk on Water 4 . The Wild The Willing & The Innocent 5 . Lights Out These will probably change depending on my mood , day of the week , new release ( Sharks ? ) etc .
Keep up the good work. Gerry

Lee, I came across your site when I was searching for pictures of UFO. What a surprise to find a site dedicated to one of my all time favourite bands. Here is my top five albums, OBSESSION, LIGHTS OUT, MISDEMEANOR, WALK ON WATER, HIGH STAKES + DANGEROUS MEN. I did not include STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT because I don't think you can compare live albums with studio albums but as live albums go we all know that STRANGERS is up there in the top 3 if not at number 1 itself. Top five guitar solos are as follows, ROCK BOTTOM, TRY ME, PROFESSION OF VIOLENCE, I'M A LOSER, HEAVENS GATE. Like most people this these top fives change from time to time depending on my mood. Keep up the good work Lee. Any chance of a message board???? Paul.

Dear Lee:
Congratulations for your excellent site. This UFO Mexican fan appreciates it.
My top 5 UFO albums (always changing): 1. No Place to Run 2. Lights Out 3. The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent 4. Obsession 5. Force It
My top 5 favourite guitar solos (also ever changing): 1. Doing It All for You - PC (Headstone CD) 2. Highway Lady - MS 3. Space Child - MS 4. Natural Thing - MS (Strangers in the Night) 5. Youngblood - PC (ending) Unfortunately I have never attended a gig.
Muchas gracias and keep up the good work.

How about this then for a unique poster.

Not sure when full production will start but Eamon can be contacted nightly on the rocknrollstation.com.

Blinding web site, only found out about you thanks to classic Rock's plug.Got into UFO 26 years ago in 1974[that makes me one of the 'old wave' of British heavy metal!!]. Seen the boys in their various guises but Phil Mogg's total rock voice and Michael Schenker's guitar sound still make them one of the best bands ever, although the media never gave them the credit they deserved. Here's a few answers to your questions:- favourite 5 albums 1. Force It 2. Phenomenon 3. No Heavy Petting 4. Strangers in the night 5. Lights out Best gig London Astoria 21/02/98 [only because after all those years Schenker was up there enjoying himself and'singing ! He played like a demon!] top 5 guitar solo's 1. Rock bottom 2. Highway Lady 3. Mother Mary 4. Oh my 5. Let it Roll Anyway keep up the good work and hope to see a few of you at the Astoria London on December 1st

hi lee, just a little story to tell you how i became a ufo maniac along with your good self. It goes back to about 1974 when ufo toured britain and they actually played then about eleven miles from where i lived in a small north norfolk coastal town called cromer (the links pavilion). however being only eleven years old at the time (a little young for rock concerts) i was left at home only to dream of what might have been, while my brother, chris (seven years senior to me) indulged in his usual saturday night of beer, rock and women (in that order). When chris finally came home in the early hours of them rock concerts, together with his mate, who used to stop over every saturday night, the old vinyl records would come out of thier sleeves and go down the spindle smoothly so as not to wake me up, as all three of us would share the same room. But little did they know that this was the highlight of my week. There i would lie, motionless, in a put-me-up bed waiting for them first few chords of 'Oh My' to start ringing out. Wow, that moment will live with me forever. The smell of alcohol filled the room, the neon lights at the tips of the cigarettes where glowing, sometimes doing a circular motion, depending on the quantity of beer consumed and the entire record of phenomenon playing in the smoke filled room. One downfall sometimes, was the fact that they did over indulge now and again and the beer would take over and the window would have to be opened frantically and subjected to see what they had to eat that day. So, to be honest, how the hell was i meant to sleep through that bloody lot!!! But to tell you the truth, i would just like to say, thanks chris! for making me the maniac that i have come to be. Love the website lee, keep up the good work, chat to ya soon up at the station and i will check out them tapes for ya!!!!!! I guess we will both be well in the swing of things seven weeks tonight Take care lee,
Eamon
This is great, just the sort of feedback i set out to get. I would think that we all have a story how we got into Ufo or where you first heard them.

This is a very difficult thing to do. UFO are my favorite band and all there records are great in their own way. But if I had to choose, I would rank them as follows:1-Obsession. 2 Walk on water ,3 Strangers in the night,4 Lights out,5 No heavy petting. My favorite solos are all from Michael; Hot and ready ,Self made man, Knock, knock ,on with the action, and Love to love.I would like to see a list of fans' favorite lyric moments. One of mine is from Cherry-' On the table top she's dancing, sit and smile in to your beer, turn around oh Cherry for me, let me know you know i'm here'.The site is great, and keep up the good work.

Favorite lyric , yes that's another good one, Phil is a brilliant and underrated wordsmith, and also master of the one liner when performing live, keep them coming.

IN A FAR DISTANT LAND AND TIME BEYOND, THERE LIVED TWO ROCKAMANIACS WHO CRUISED WITH SOME OF THE BEST LIGHTS OUT ZOOISH METAL THAT HAS NOT BEEN FORGOTTEN. THESE FOG-CRAZED, ROOTNOOTEN-EATING, METALERS BECAME LATER KNOWN AS SKID AND SILVER IN THE ROCK ARCHIVES OF METALAND. ALONG CAME THIS RATHER LARGE CAOITIC DUDE NAMED *EDDIE* WHO BEGAN A QUEST AGAINST THE EVIL OF THE WORLD THUS, THE ELECTRIC PHASE SHOT INTO ORBIT OF TIME AND WITH THE INITIALS MSG.....GUITARS CRANKED.......BOB WENT UP IN SMOKE AND SAILED THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE. THE FOND MEMORIES OF THE ANCIENT US BUS FESTIVAL ALL TOO SHORT LIVED. WHO ARE THESE TWO BEINGS, SKID AND SILVER....??? ARE THEY JUST ANOTHER MOTOWN HITTERS OR ARE THEY LAMBERTIANS THROWING ROLLS AT HILLBILLY ALIENS????????????????????????????????????? ROCK ON DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at this show. Their power went out on the first or second song. Phil said something like "This is how the professionals do it" before starting again. Do you know how I could obtain this cd or tape? I was also at the 1995 reunion show at a small club in Stl. I met Michael. That was probably the best concert I ever attended. I have always liked both Schenker and Chapman. I believe WW Innocent and Mechanix were their most consistent releases. I remember hearing the boys on the King Biscuit Flower Hour show for WWI. The boys also played in Stl in 1980 backing Judas Priest. I believe that the quality and quantity of music that UFO made was somewhat un-appreciated in the midwest US. It is getting harder to find someone who has even heard of the band. I am 37. The people in their 20's I talk to at work or the gym cannot recall any songs. Sad.

Brice attending the UFO autograph session before the gig in Lyon, France in 1997.

"I'm looking for live recordings of UFO and MSG in France, possibly in Lyon. In particular I'm interested in the Toulon 1980 and Clermont Ferrand 83 and Paris Bataclan 83. Also interested in photos from fans"

Hello Lee What a great website! Congratulations. I read on Paul Chapman's website that Fin Muir has now been located and that they would post details soon, but nothing has happened. Do you know where Fin is and what he has been doing for the past few years. I heard two rumor's 1) that he was working on an oil rig and 2) rather worryingly, that he was dead. So what's the story? Any ideas? All the best
Greg
can anybody help Greg with an answer, this must be one of the best kept secrets in ufo & family saga.

Hello Thanks for all informations about the greatest band. I live in Poland and there UFO is hardly popular band so I can only look for informations in internet or other countries... I mail to you becouse I saw in your concerts listing you don't have the track listing from Kaufbeuren, 17.01.1998. I have been there and I can tell you that track listing is exactly the same as in Berlin 2 days before. I am sure that and I remeber, becouse I took the paper with track-listing from a scene floor. :) And I tell you more... In "Too Hot To Handle" Phill Mogg put the microfone for a while beside MY face, so I could shout instead of him "too hot!" to the microphone... I also would like to vote... My top: Albums: 1. Strangers In The Night 2. Lights Out 3. Force It 4. Phenomenon 5. No heavy Petting Solos: 1. Let It Roll 2. Rock Bottom 3. Mystery Train (introduction) 4. Can You Roll Her 5. Love To Love Quote: "Too hot" :))) Gig: I saw only one... Kaufbeuren 17.01.1998

Just visited your site for the first time....think its quite awesome. My favorite live gig: December 8, 1978 at the Capitol Theater in Passaic ,N.J. The bands performance of Love to Love was better than the STRANGERS version-kinda made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...My favorite album?...hum ..quite tough but I'd have to say FORCE IT for its sheer , raw aggression.Granted its not up to the technical quality of the Nevison works but it truly kicks .Met Phil outside of Radio City Music Hall during the WW&Innocent tour ,he stopped and talked for a few seconds. He seemed like a nice enough guy. He signed a dollar bill for me and went on his way....I got a lot of favorite guitar solos but one of my all time favorites is in I'M A LOSER. Michaels melodic artistry really shines throughout. My favorite Bolton solo is the classic pan-o-matic PRICE KAJUKU. By the way, where is Mick Bolton today? Does anybody know? Keep up the good work!!!!!!

"I had a funny experience about 2 years ago, I put an advert in kerrange for UFO items, and this lady rang me and said she had some really rare and early albums. I asked her if they were the Michael Bolton period, we then spent about half an hour arguing. she said he was never in the band and that I was taking the p~~~. it turns out she thought I meant the other M/Bolton, he with the dodgy barnet. Anyway whats he doing now? the answer is I dont know. I do know that he worked as a guitar tech on the UFO 83 tour and I believe he also worked with msg in the same capacity. But hay if anybody has an update please tell. There is also a really good interview with the man himself in issue 5 of MGAB"

Great!! More UFO on the net? This can only be a good thing. How about Top 10 Tonka Chapman-era UFO songs. Here's mine...
1. Anyday (great bass-playing from Paul C on this one - but why oh why did they fade out the closing guitar solo so early) 2. Letting Go ("started when I was 16" - a long, long time ago, then?) 3. Chains Chains (for that great, juggernaut riff at the beginning and the lyrics "been shaking it since she was 16" - a familiar thread emerging here) 4. Couldn't Get It Right (those bittersweet lyrics "Now you've grown older and the world seems gotten than it used to be" (how true!) and Chapman's great, soaring solo at the close) 5. Young Blood (great, great pop-rock song. Who remembers them on Top Of The Pops?) (ANYBODY GOT A COPY OF THE VIDEO PLEASE) 6. This Fire Burns Tonight (a great, simple stomper - "White lines on the highway" Oh, really.) 7. Long Gone (for the brooding, ominous intro and Mogg banging on about the things that "bleed like open wounds") 8. We Belong To The Night (simply because of their performance at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1982 - when they opened the show and Mogg, Way and Carter all jumped off the drum rise in perfect synchronicity) 9. Dreaming ("nobody cares, nobody knows") 10. No Place To Run ("Out here he's number one/some say that he's the best") Notice how I've really run out of steam at the end, here...
Harold Shand

Top five songs! 1. Rock Bottom (live) 2. Lights out ('95) 3. Love to Love 4. Try Me 5. Between the Walls Wishful thinking setlist! Gettin' Ready (kinda in album order like MS story) Oh My Too Young to Know Let it Roll Out in the Street Reasons Love On with the Action Electric Phase Love to Love Pack it Up and Go (guest appearance by Paul Chapman) You Don't Fool Me No Place to Run Makin' Moves Doing It All For You (Jam session in middle between Schenker & Chapman) It's Killing Me (Guitar duet between Michael & Paul) Pushed to the Limit Darker Days A Self Made Man *Fool's gold (*never heard these but sure they're great) *The Middle of Madness *Unraveled *Cowboy Joe This Kid's including Between the Walls Doctor, Doctor encore: Rock Bottom Lights Out Queen of the Deep These are just off the top of my head and glancing at my CD's. I would be happy with anything they did but I would like to see something new or unusual in the setlist. How many times can you play Too Hot To Handle when it doesn't get airplay anymore? Like anything UFO plays does! People like you keep the spirit of the tunes alive and (hopefully) spreading, on with the ACTION!
David "skid" Rowe

Favorite UFO gig - April 1, 1982 - Stabler Arena, Bethlehem, PA,USA 1st show on the Ozzy/UFO tour after Randy Rhoads died. Ozzy was really bad. UFO cooked. It was one of those rare shows when the band is in such a groove that they take their playing up a notch or two. Fantasy set list We Belong to the Night, Mother Mary, Let it roll, No Place to Run, Out in the Streets, Long Gone, Doing it All for you, Venis, This Time, Love To Love, Lights Out, Rockbottom, Too hot, shoot shoot
